I'm no lawyer, but I'm told that defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. That doesn't seem to stop inveterate doodlers from making funny drawings on dollar bills:

Artist Hanna van Goeler likes to use currency as her canvas, and her paintings on money include maps!



Van Goeler says her work "focuses on what's 'between.' The interstitial, ambiguous, complex, transitory, changing, mystic, hybrid, un-named." Considering that the average lifespan of a dollar bill is 6 months... currency is certainly transitory...

Currently her work can be seen in Zurich, Switzerland and New York City.

On this page, the blogger has pulled together photos of rugs, including map rugs! Made in Afghanistan? Perhaps these two rugs are marketed to U.S. soldiers, and other particpants in the so-called Coalition of the Willing.

Iraq-Pakistan Border

On Good Morning America, while commenting on Barack Obama's Middle Eastern tour, John McCain made a bit of a geography "gaff":

"We have a lot of work to do. It’s a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border."

While I will not likely be voting for McCain, it wouldn't be because of this silly little slip of the tongue. However, the satirical side of the vast left-wing media conspiracy is having a field day. I just enjoy the maps:

I had forgotten about Obama's 57 states comment... in fact I vaguely recall an editorial cartoon that included a map... but I found this one from the Power Line Blog:
